Page County Grown is a brand new, grass roots initiative, which met for the first time in February of 2011 at the Chamber of Commerce office. In this brief period of time, we’ve had an overwhelming response to our call for celebrating locally grown products. We’ve sat down at the table many times this year to define our vision and mission statements and to plan our inaugural season.
As we’ve gathered, we’ve welcomed a diverse cross section of producers, from a beekeeper to a goat farmer, a Christmas tree grower, a viniculturist, a CSA farmer and a beef farmer. Local farming retailers and restaurateurs have provided input, as well as our local school nutritionist, a farm marketer, chamber representatives and a hospital administrator. Working together, we’ve felt drawn by a common passion — local food, proudly produced by local hands.
Throughout the 2011 growing season, we encouraged you to look for our logo on certified products in a growing number of locations. We look forward to building an even stronger organization in the season to come!
